Want to run? Want a crew to do it with? Want to do it somewhere in the streets and cities of the U.K.? WE FEEL YA.
Social running groups are getting back up and aahh... running from March 29th. Get out and support your local and let us know if there's any we've missed!
Get those sneakers on and let’s run this!
Solemother
Started by Grace Lees, Solemother is a super fun, super sassy, super supportive social exercise group for women, centred on being active doing whatever makes you feel good! What began as a few friends getting together for casual runs after the kiddos were tucked up in bed, has now become something of a movement boasting more than 1600 Solemother sisters! The crew get together for runs, hikes, swims, classes or just for a cheeky night out. Socialising around exercise? We're here for all of that!!
Run Talk Run
A running group-slash-mental health safe space and support group, Run Talk Run is the brainchild of Jessica Robson. Launching to the sound of her own feet running, Jessica has since gathered a crew of committed comrades across the globe who meet in their respective towns and cities for a casual jog and a bit of banter. The focus is on community, support + connection and we are 100% here for all of that; head to their website to find a group near you or, start your own!
Park Run UK
Now running (literally) in 20 countries, Park Run was born in Teddington, UK way back in 2004! They now boast a community of over 3 million people worldwide (!!!) with 5K + 2K being run every weekend. Also with a big push for maintaining an inclusive vibe, the concept here is super simple: register, print a unique barcode and then turn up at any of their running events worldwide!
Run Dem Crew
Hats off and high fives to what appears to be the most fun running crew we’ve come across to date. Run Dem Crew is runner, DJ and full-time supporter+cheerleader for his community, Charlie Dark’s baby and right about now our own crew is wishing he’d create a chapter here in Dubh linn. There’s a big emphasis on the importance of community and the RDC is also a big local player in youth mentoring work, creative endeavours and other local events.
Midnight Runners
Running in London is getting more and more fun… Midnight Runners is another local-turned-global running movement success story and each run involves pounding the pavement to loud beats courtesy of each event’s Crew Captain and their PartyBag which is speakers in a backpack… Sign. Us. Up. Not just a run though: expect stops for burpees and sit-ups along the way, and plenty of time made for the back-of-the-pack runners to catch up. No man or woman left behind.
WMN RUN
Running in London and Bristol, WMN RUN is an inspired crew on a mission: to bridge the gender gap and get more women involved in running; we couldn’t be more on board for that. With regular social runs plus opportunities to train with their team for organised races and events, this is a crew that’s here for you, your goals and ultimately your personal achievement. Hello to all things community + sisterhood.
Mikkeller Running Club
If you like a little food+beer with your running, then Mikkeller is the crew for you! Launched on a platform of staying fit through running in order to balance an enjoyment of all life’s other wonderful offerings, Mikkeller is now a global operation jam-packed full of committed joggers, runners and foodies alike. Sign up, get your hands on a free beverage and run your way around the globe!
Our Parks
Okay, okay, not technically a running group per se, but well worth a mention here nonetheless. Our Parks was started by former pro athlete Born Barikor as a means for breaking down some of the barriers to local involvement in health + fitness, namely: locating classes close by to you that don’t cost the earth. The solution: regular, free, local classes with a push for inclusivity and accessibility. Yes please!
What are you waiting for???? Get out there and get to know your local running crew! Get active, meet some new mates and Make Life Richer!
