Meet the Track East community, a group that meets every Thursday at Mile End track in London to do different running sessions, from miles to two kilometer repeats. The community is inclusive, with people of all levels training for their own things and encouraging each other to reach new heights.
We chatted to different Track East members about their experiences of how being a part of Track East has improved their fitness, pushed them to do better while also finding a supportive and friendly group of people to hang out with. For some, it's a weekly ritual, while for others, it's a way to connect and grow with people and have fun in the process. The community is particularly important post-COVID as it serves as a way for people to connect with each other and get back out into the world.
"I've been coming to Track East since about 2018 I never ever would have taken myself down to the track on my own to do a session couldn't think of anything worse but somehow doing it with a bunch of people who then become your friends just make it that much more tolerable so yeah that was a really important part of my week and my life."
